As with most of you, hunting and shooting is a heritage that has been
passed down to me. It is a heritage in which I take great pride
and wish to preserve.
My Earliest memories are of my dad and uncle coming back from a hunt,
cleaning their game and then their guns. When I was old enough, I
was given the task of cleaning the guns as I was told that before you
can shoot them, you must learn to clean them. I took great pride
in cleaning those great old firearms (and still do today). A few
years later and I was able to join my uncle hunting and loved every
time we went out, whether we brought something home or not. A
number of years later, as my uncle became too sick to go out, I lost my
interest in hunting as it just wasn’t the same without him.
Flash forward a number of years later and I am married to a great
gal. Most of you may know her as Ladeeraven. She is not
only an amazing artist, but also has the wondrous gift of allowing one
to close that gap between who you are and who you can be. One
year we took a vacation to Mobile, AL to visit family. While we
were there, my aunt was taking care of a neighbor's Dachshund for a few
days. We had so much fun with that dog that She suggested we
should try to get one. Well, we ended up with a bluetick,
literally given to us by a great guy named Wayne Dimond who wanted
Raven (Yep, he came prenamed for the full story visit Coonhound Calendar) to have a good home.
He had a problem with his leg and couldn't hunt competitively, but
Wayne felt he was such a good dog that he deserved a good home.
When we got him, he could hardly walk down the block without limping,
so I worked with him and got him to the point where he could walk a
good mile without limping. I soon realized what a great small
game hunter he was. I worked with him to track rabbits and he
took to it in no time. I knew I had to take him hunting. My
love of hunting was rekindled! It is because of my two Raven's
that this company was named, for without either of them, none of this
would be possible.
