I'm Jim Caron, owner of Raven Gunsmith.  I am a life long hunter and gun owner.  I am a Super Life member of the NRA and belong to the Free Hunter's Society and the North American Hunting Club.  I have been trained and certified by the American Gunsmith Institute, and I am a firm believer and supporter of the second Amendment and of the dissemination of knowledge and safe use of all firearms.  I started this shop because I love the old classic firearms, those guns that many of us have had handed down from our elders. I love getting them cleaned, tuned, and restored so they renew interest,  tradition and memories.  Being a left-handed shot, I grew up with a dilemma:  find creative ways to use most firearms or allow myself to be limited in my choices of what to use.  Nowadays, there are considerably more options offered to us lefties, when I was young, not so many.  After installing a left-handed crossbolt safety on an old auto-5.  I figured I was onto something.  I kept learning.  The more I learned the more I knew I loved working with guns again. I realized that if I wanted to keep doing this, I had to receive more formal training, get tested and certified, with the intention of helping other people maintain their treasured firearms, and preserving the heritage.  I currently have a full time job.  I work with guns on a part time basis by appointment only.  My goal is for this to expand this into working on guns on a full time basis sometime in the future, possibly once my days in the high tech world are over.
